Life at Atterdag

A post card from the 1960s shows Atterdag College, built in 1914, directly behind the Solvang Lutheran Home, built in 1953.  Both shared a hill overlooking Solvang at the north end of Atterdag Road. The college was torn down in 1970 to make way for an expanded Solvang Lutheran Home.

Norman Skau lived at Atterdag College as a child and is now the food service director at Atterdag Village. To celebrate and reinforce their culture, Solvang’s Danish immigrants founded Atterdag College in 1914.
