Editor's Statement:
Its never simple pulling together a 100 page publication, but Summer 2004 will long be remembered by me — and the unfortunate writer drafted to share the project—for the many lessons we learned about w riting and researching history. Figueroas Mountain began as a plan for a medium-length impeccably accurate history of Figueroa Mountain. Instead it became weeks of tedious research, in the end accumulating a story with enough twists and turns to justify a major novel, and an avalanche of information about Figueroa — enough for three more articles. What appears in this issue is a slice of the story.
I hope you find Figueroas Mountain, and all the stories in this issue interesting and fun to read.
