| Buellton, the gateway to the Santa Ynez Valley, is the Valley's fastest growing area. A friendly little city, with a geographical area of 1.6 square miles and a population of 3,395, it provides many of the service needs for both the Valley residents and the visitor. Because of its location at the intersection of two major highways, and its proximity to the City of Solvang, Buellton is a major tourist destination and has a variety of hotels, motels and fine restaurants.
If you should need help with your car, truck or RV, call Olivera's Garage & Towing located on the north end of Avenue of Flags at 611. Olivera's has been in business with one owner for 50 years, and Bill Olivera's choice for a new partner who would serve the Valley as well as he did himself is Valley native Emmet Hickey. Emmet has years of experience and knows all there is to know about the mechanical care and repair of your automobile. Olivera's is AAA approved, and also offers Triple A roadside assistance.
Rolling Hills Garden Center at 404 East Hwy 246, is one of the first garden supply centers in the Valley. Owned by Gail and Rocky Marshall, they have a wide selection of ornamental trees and plants, seeds and starter plants; they also specialize in environmentally-friendly pest control products. Distinct at Rolling Hills is Rocky's wide selection of antique farming equipment. Stop in and find the perfect addition for your landscaping at this Valley landmark.

When it comes to food, Mexican food is very popular among the locals and Taco Roco (formerly Taco Loco) on the south end of Avenue of the Flags is a favorite. Fast, friendly service, good food and low prices are what have made them so popular. There are two Taco Rocos in the Valley (one in Solvang). Look on page 77 this issue for coupon for the delicious new Downtown Burrito... (See dining guide)
Another fine restaurant (see dining guide) is Zaca Creek Restaurant, a couple of miles north of Buellton on Jonata Park Rd. Follow Avenue of the Flags north until it ends at the freeway. At that junction, Jonata Park Road originates.
Another excellent place to get your car repaired, tuned up or smog-checked is with the friendly local folks at Valley Automotive Service at 950 McMurray Road. Scott Stephen, owner of Valley Automotive Service is a Valley native who has worked with cars since he was a teenager. Valley Automotive has grown into a thriving business since Scott first opened in 1984, but it still keeps it's small-town atmosphere, mostly because of the friendly staff. Their technicians attend seminars regularly to keep up to date with the latest automotive technicology. They are open Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5:30pm.
The Creation Station Fabric and Quilt Shop started as a home-based business in 1999, marketing fabric directly to quilters and fabric collectors. Her little venture grew far beyond what she expected and she has now relocated her home-business to 1600 feet of retail space in Buellton. The large selection appeals to local quilters and sewers as well. All of her fabric is priced at $5 per yard and is pre-cut in 1/2-yard and 1-yard lengths to make it easy to pick just what you need. See their new location.
